In this ever advancing society we live in we are now presented with an amazing technology which has been developed to build low carbon houses with recycled plastic and minerals. The inventor of this is Affresol, of Swansea. The firm which was sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government has produced a wide range of four tone portable and eco friendly homes. Today we see a turn in ‘’green’’ we all want to have more effective houses and stop the wasting of materials.
After seeing how much these houses can benefit us it is being seen as the way of the future, something that is surely going to revolutionize the way we build homes. It is very impressive that we are now capable of making homes with recycled waste, maybe in the distant future we can see these houses being implemented and reducing or completely removing the homeless community which surrounds us.
A new type of material has been created by Affresol call TPR or Thermo Poly Rock which is made from minerals and recycled plastics. These materials are then used to build these amazing houses. The company responsible says that it has patented a low energy cold process which is used to convert these so called useless plastics into a strong structural element. The TPR panels are used to form the frame of the house and then can be externally cladded with block, bricks or stone with insulation and plastering in the interior as in a regular house. The roof is also made completely of recycled materials.
It is said that this new material TPR is lighter and much stronger than concrete and also waterproof and fire retardant.
It was also stated that TPR did not rot and possessed incredible insulation qualities. The company has predicted a lifespan of these houses to more than 60 years and would at that time period still be recyclable, which seems to be a win, win situation. The company has worked with Cardiff, Building Research Establishment, Glamorgan Universities and Carbon Trust for the past 2 years in developing the TPR material.
Many are saying that is has the potential for use throughout the world. We see that in every country there is a waste problem and may be now we can finally solve 2 problems for the price of one. May be that day has come that now we can use this unwanted waste and build homes for everyone. Being 100% recyclable is a turn for the best, no damages would be caused to the earth and the surroundings would become cleaner.
The company is continuously recruiting new partners who wish to join in this venture and help in any advancement that can be possible. With these new advancements they also hope to be able to create a lot more jobs for people during these hard financial times we are living in. We can only hope for the best in the venture and pray that others take the time and look into it. It is something that can only be beneficial to us and the planet.
