Installing Windows 7 through a flash disk USB can bring many benefits compared to through CD or DVD disc. With the USB flash disk, the users do not need to be worried of CD or DVD formats that the CD/DVD-ROM cannot read or a scratched disk that will make the installing process difficult. With the USB flash disk, the user will no longer face this issue any more.
There are two ways of installing Windows 7 through a flash disk USB, manually and automatically. Before you can try this thing out, you need to prepare at least one flash disk with 4GB or more capacity because Windows 7 will locate 3 GB memory.
Manual Installation
1. Plug in your flash disk USB into the USB port.
2. Press WIN+R buttons and then type cmd and click OK
3. Type diskpart and click ENTER.
4. Type list disk, press ENTER and select which one your flash disk USB is. You have to choose your flash disk carefully if you do not want to format other disk. If you only have one hard disk, then your flash disk USB will be disk 1.
5. Type select disk 1 and press ENTER.
6. Type clean and press ENTER.
7. Type create partition primary and then press ENTER.
8. Type select partition 1 and then press ENTER.
9. Type active and press ENTER.
10. Type format fs=fat32 and press ENTER.
11. Type assign and press ENTER.
12. Type exit and press ENTER.
13. Insert the Windows 7 DVD disc and copy all the DVD content to your flash disc USB.
14. You can now do the booting from your computer through a flash disc USB, setting through your computer bios and make sure that the booting in through the flash disc USB. If you do these steps correct, the process of Windows installation should be through the flash disc USB.
Automatic Installation
If you want to have a simple and easy of installing your Windows 7, you can use the WinToFlash program. This program will automatically do the manual steps above. All you need to do is running the program, selecting the source of Windows 7 and the direction of the flash disc USB.
1. Download the latest WinToFlash program.
2. Extract and run the WinToFlash.exe file
3. Click “Check” button and start up the Windows setup transfer wizard process.
4. Click “Next”
5. Select the location of Windows 7 file and location of your flash disc USB. Click “Next”.
6. Select “I accepted the terms of the license agreement” and click “Continue”.
7. Click OK to start formatting the flash disc USB and it will receive the Windows 7 files automatically.
8. Click “next” after the copy process is finished and you can do the booting to your computer through your flash disc USB. If the steps are correct, the windows installation process should run through the flash disc USB.
