The new Sony PRS-900BC (Reader Daily Edition) is the first Sony wireless Reader. The Reader Digital Book allows you to download books, newspapers, periodicals etc. without the need to connect it to a computer. The Sony Reader Digital Book supports various file formats like EPUB, PDF RTF, TXT and word documents (Conversion to the Reader requires Word installed on your PC). The Reader also supports unsecured MP3 and AAC audio format, so that you can listen to the songs while reading books. This is the first Sony reader which has a 7 inch display screen. The Reader Digital Book has also got an built-in dictionary so that you can search for the meanings quickly. Read comfortably in either portrait or landscape orientation, making the experience very similar to that of a printed paperback book. In landscape mode the Reader Daily Edition allows for comfortable 2-page layout of content.
The reader has an internal Memory of 1.6GB and lets you carry hundreds of your favorite books at a time and with dual memory expansion card slots. The 3G wireless access is free and gives you access to the Reader Store from within most of the U.S.
The Sony Reader digital Book is compatible with Windows XP, VISTA, Windows 7 and selected Macintosh OS. Since the reader can download the books wirelessly there is no need for a computer.
Also, the Sony eBook store offers you wide variety of eBooks for all age groups. Since the recent conversion of the eBook store from BBeB format to ePub format the eBook store is compatible with multiple devices. By supporting both industry standard formats, ePub and PDF, you can also check out books from public libraries, access over one million free public domain titles from Google Books, as well as sharing sites, online aggregators and personal publishers. The Sony eBook store along with Google provides access to more than 1 million free public domain books – from classics such as Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island to biographies, historical texts, romance novels and hundreds of other genres.
