Posted by the editor on November 18th, 2011

The newest addition to the tablet market is the Kindle Fire by Amazon. It is a completely different device than the Kindle and the Fire has a lot of promise. Below you can find a list of what you need to know about the Fire.

Display: The Fire comes with an impressive 7-inch color display made from gorilla glass, a glass that is 7 times stronger than most polymers. The screen has 169 pixels per inch, more than the 132ppi the iPad 2 has.

Apps: Amazon provides their own app store called the Amazon Android Appstore. The store is rumored to be a simplified and easier to use than the actual Amazon website itself. A number of popular apps will be available, such as Pandora, Facebook, Twitter, and Netflix.

Connectivity and Storage: The Fire comes with Wi-Fi, but unfortunately does not come with 3G. There is also no camera or microphone. The device has 8GB of storage.

Music, Video, and Books: You are able to access all the content offered by Amazon on the Fire. You will have access to 100,000 movies and TV shows, 17 million songs, Kindle books and magazines and newspapers.

If you become an Amazon Prime Member you will get access to instant, unlimited, commercial-free streaming of 11,000 movies and TV shows. The Fire comes with one free month of Amazon Prime.

The Kindle Fire by Amazon is a nice product at the affordable rate. While it does have some drawbacks, the advantages overcome and Amazon has put together a nice device.
